You gotta watch buying a new anything anymore, from a big established powerful brand; especially if they manufacture their own brand; and especially if it’s mechanical or chips/data.

The brands, especially if mechanical; have a forced monopoly on their item they exclusively create. Recent examples include John Deere. American farmers are known for do-it-yourself individuals. This is because they have to cut cost whenever they can, wherever they can, on a farm or ranch type operation. Especially if it is privately owned. Monopolies that sell, manufacture, the item of a powerful brand in question, have crested a forced maintenance and repair industry on their own products. Products that they exclusively manufacture, brand, sell, and not exclusively repair. Diagnostic equipment for the item is not even publicly a available usually. Requiring the individual to use the dealership, or brand authorized repair station to diagnose and fix the equipment in question. Furthermore, often times the parts are shaped, designed, in ways that the replacement parts have to be ordered exclusively from the brand, or authorized repair center as well.

All of this creates a forced monopoly. Entrapping consumers to high maintenance repairs. Often times this also requires traveling with the equipment , or waiting weeks or months for an authorized brand repair individual to show up on-site. If the equipment is large like a John Deer tractor. Often times this means waiting for a repair man to show up. Consumers do not realize these topics, are part of the decision they making at the register when purchasing these expensive items. Often times having mechanical knowledge, having diagnostic knowledge, isn’t enough anymore. Consumers are losing the ability, losing the freedom, to order the parts, to use diagnostic equipment, and so on. Consumers are now forced to pay costly repair bills. Consumers are now forced to use the brands authorized repair representative to diagnose and purchase parts. The brands will not even often times sell diagnostic equipment to the farm or ranch in question. It’s not an option to purchase the parts or diagnostic computer often times of these powerful brands. The environment this creates is again, a forced monopoly control over the consumers that originally loved and purchased the brands item. The scenario this creates is longer repair wait times on equipment. Higher repair parts cost. Inability to rent or purchase diagnostic equipment for that item in question. Losing the freedom of decision of your operation with your new item, and so on.
